SSC Hit 1,000 LinkedIn Followers in June. Sixty Days Later, We’re at 2,500.
Social Storytellers Collective has generated more than 1.25 million LinkedIn impressions as an independent publication, with the majority of that reach coming in the past three months.

On June 14, Social Storytellers Collective published a milestone that, at the time, felt substantial: 1,000 LinkedIn followers and 229,399 organic impressions in 30 days. Sixty days later, that benchmark already looks small.
SSC has now crossed 2,500 LinkedIn followers, meaning the publication added approximately 1,500 followers — a 150 percent increase in its total audience — in roughly two months. LinkedIn analytics show SSC content has generated 1,255,552 impressions, along with 1,077 reactions, 453 comments and 36 reposts. The growth has happened without paid promotion or boosted posts.
The Second 1,500 Came Faster
The more useful measure isn’t that SSC reached 2,500 followers. It’s how quickly the second phase of growth happened. When SSC crossed 1,000 followers on June 14, the page had added 698 followers during the preceding 30 days. Since then, another 1,500 people have followed the publication, an average of roughly 25 additional followers per day.
The distribution has grown with them. From May 14 through August 11, SSC generated 878,149 impressions in 90 days, according to LinkedIn analytics. That’s approximately 70 percent of the publication’s 1.26 million measured lifetime impressions concentrated in the most recent three-month period.
During that same 90-day window, SSC recorded 795 reactions, 353 comments and 23 reposts. Compared with the preceding period, impressions increased 132.7 percent, reactions 181.9 percent and comments 253 percent. Reach tells us how often the work entered someone’s feed. Comments tell us whether someone thought it was worth stopping for, and comments grew fastest of the three.
We Didn’t Build Around Virality
SSC was never designed to chase the largest story of the day simply because everyone else was covering it. The editorial premise has been more specific: The news tells you what happened. We explain what changed.
That has meant publishing stories about business, work, technology, policy, culture and the economy through the systems underneath them — who gains leverage, who pays for it, where power moves and what a seemingly isolated development tells us about something larger.
It also means attribution. Sources are named. Reporting is linked. Arguments are made plainly enough that readers can agree with them, challenge them or add something we missed. Increasingly, they do.
The 453 comments across SSC’s measured lifetime are the number we watch most closely. This was not supposed to become a page people passively scrolled past. The goal was to build a publication people actually read.
1.25 Million Impressions Changes the Scale
There is a point at which an independent publishing experiment has to begin treating itself like what it is becoming. More than 1.25 million impressions is one of those points.
So is 2,500 followers. So is adding 1,500 of them in approximately 60 days. And so is generating nearly 880,000 impressions during the most recent 90-day period.
None of those numbers makes SSC a large media company. They do establish something more important at this stage: there is an audience for this kind of journalism. Readers will stop for a story that asks them to think beyond the headline. They will read a careful analysis of an earnings report, a labor dispute, an AI product, a corporate decision or an economic statistic. And they will follow a publication they may never have heard of before if the work consistently gives them something they aren’t getting elsewhere.
That’s what these numbers measure.
The Next Milestone Isn’t Just 5,000
Of course we want the next 2,500 followers. But follower count alone isn’t the business we’re trying to build.
The next stage is about turning distribution into something more durable: readers who visit SSC directly, subscribe, return, share the work and eventually support an independent newsroom capable of doing more ambitious journalism.
LinkedIn has given SSC extraordinary distribution. More than a million impressions have introduced the publication to an audience we did not have a few months ago. Now the work is to turn attention into habit.
On June 14, we wrote about reaching 1,000 followers. Sixty days later, there are 2,500 of you. Thank you for reading closely enough to make the difference visible.
