Amazon Quietly Expands Gas Discounts for Prime Members

April 15, 2026

Amazon is offering U.S. Prime members a fuel discount that remains largely underutilized, even as gas prices continue to strain household budgets. The program, launched in October 2024, allows members to save 10 cents per gallon through a partnership with BP’s earnify app—but a limited-time promotion is now doubling that benefit.

From April 3 through May 29, Prime members can receive up to 20 cents off per gallon during weekly “Fuel-Up Fridays.” The promotion applies once per week and requires users to activate the benefit and link their Prime account to the earnify platform. Discounts can then be redeemed at more than 7,500 participating stations, including BP, Amoco, Thorntons, and AM/PM locations.

The structure of the discount reflects a layered loyalty model. Users enrolled in earnify receive a base savings of 5 cents per gallon, which stacks with an additional 5 cents tied to Prime membership. The promotional period adds another 10 cents per gallon on Fridays, temporarily doubling the total savings.

Amazon estimates that members who consistently use the benefit can save up to $70 annually on fuel. The company has also introduced a household-sharing feature through Amazon Family accounts, allowing two drivers to access the discount—effectively doubling weekly savings during the promotional window.

The gap between availability and awareness is notable. Despite the scale of Prime’s membership base, the fuel discount has not been widely adopted, suggesting that even high-value perks can remain invisible without intentional activation or clear user education.

The promotion also reflects a broader shift in how subscription ecosystems are evolving. Platforms like Amazon are increasingly bundling everyday cost-saving utilities—fuel, groceries, and delivery—into membership models, extending their value beyond convenience into direct financial relief.
